La Cooperativa Amalfitana Trasformazione Agrumi è
proprietaria nella città di Amalfi di due appezzamenti
di terreno coltivati in prevalenza a limoni. Il primo,
ove si trova il laboratorio ed il deposito, si estende
su di una superficie di 70.000 mq, tutti disposti a terrazzamenti
lungo la collina che dalla parte nord di Amalfi, chiamata
Valle Dei Mulini, sale fino alla frazione di Pogerola,
a 350 metri sul livello del mare. Il secondo appezzamento
di terreno, luogo dal quale è ritratta la più
famosa cartolina di Amalfi, gode di una posizione climaticamente
perfetta ed è proprio qui che vengono coltivate
tutte le varietà di agrumi e di erbe aromatiche
utilizzate per la produzione degli infusi. La superficie
totale è di circa 5.000 mq disposti a terrazzamenti,
che si sviluppano dalla strada statale fino al cimitero
di Amalfi, uno dei monumenti di maggiore interesse storico-artistico
della città. In questo appezzamento si trovano
addirittura alcune piante arrivate dall'oriente nel lontano
1000 d.C. importate dai navigatori amalfitani di ritorno
dalle crociate. Queste ancora oggi danno frutti meravigliosi
e unici al mondo.
The Amalfitan Cooperative for Citruses Transformation
extends in the City of Amalfi on two land plots mainly
cultivated with lemons. The first one, where the laboratory
and the warehouse are, covers a 70.000 m²area; it
is formed by terraces that cover the whole hill which,
from the North side of Amalfi - Mill Valley - leads up
to the little village of Pogerola, 350 meters above the
sea level. The second land plot, which is portrayed in
the most famous postcard of Amalfi, enjoys a climatically
perfect position and all the varieties of citruses and
aromatic herbs, which are used for the production of instilled
drinks.The total surface of about 5.000 m² is lined
in terraces which go from the main road to the cemetery
of Amalfi, which is one of the most important historical
and artistic monument of the city. There are also some
plants which has been imported from the East by the amalfitan
navigators on their way back from the crusades in the
1000 a.C.. At present those plants still produce some
delicious and unique in their taste fruits.
